BIOGRAPHY

Honored with the highest award given to selected artists in Cuba, the

“National Culture Award of Cuba”, Grammy and Emmy-winning

Albita , has been able to move the world with her music. Her high energy,

electrifying performance of contagious Cuban music combines all genres of Cuban music; Rumba, Mambo, Son , Afro-cuban rhythms and folk, and she does it with true authenticity to her Cuban roots.

Singer, composer, and showwoman, her work has elevated her career to an international level, performing all throughout Europe, Latin America, Australia, Africa and Malysia, sharing stages with such greats As Celia Cruz, Tito Puentes, Gilberto Gil, Daniela Mercury, Phil Collins, Melissa Ethridge and Tony Bennett.

“Albita is the reincarnation of a 1930’s Chanteuse, a Berlin Cabaret singer transfused with latin blood”said the Los Angeles Times.

Her theater work includes playing “Evalina Montoya in Broadway’s “Mambo Kings”, with rave reviews. Also she played “La Senora” in the first run of Carmen la Cubana (music from Bizet) for 6 weeks in Paris at the Chatelet Theater, thereafter proceeded to tour in China, Switzerland, Germany, with great reviews.

She has been awarded with 14 Grammy Nominations, 4 Emmy

Nominations and has won 2 Grammy awardsas well as 2 Emmy Awards, for her own Televesion show, “La Descarga con Albita”

Her most recent work includes her latest musical production “Albita 1950’s, which has awarded her two more Grammy nominations.

Albita was also approached by the creative team of NCL Cruise Lines, to

Compose 4 original songs, music and lyrics, for their most recent production “HAVANA”, which was featured in their latest ship The Bliss.

Her music has been featured in Hollywood movies like “The Specialist”

With Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone and also music and performance

In “Dance with Me” with Vanessa Williams.

Albita has performed in three Presidential Inuagurations.

Her charity work includes work with St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Equality Rocks Human Rights campaign with Melissa Ethridge, work with Aids Research Organization in L.A., Liga Contra el Cancer.

Throughout her career Albita’s has stayed authentic to her Cuban roots and true to her Cuban Culture.
