Ivette Cepeda

 Undoubtedly, throughout the world, Cuba is considered “The Island of Music.” Talent hunters feel that the soul overflows whenever it stumbles, by chance or by something that must be shared.

Born in Sancti Spíritus on September 25, 1963, her beginnings as a soloist in 1991 were at the Neptuno-Triton tourist centers in Havana City. For 1994 he toured several countries in Africa with the Raíces Cubanas group.

From 1994 to 1998 he works with the quartet “Sello Cubano” of Orlando López “Cachao”, and at the opening of the Hotels: “Copacabana”, with a repertoire of more than 80 Brazilian songs; and “Melia Cohiba”, along with the teachers Frank Emilio and Tata Güines, recalling the group “Los Amigos”, founded by them in 1950.

In November 2008 he presented his first solo concert “Stations” at the Theater of the Museum of Fine Arts, under the General Artistic Direction of the famous director Lester Hamlet. While in December of that year she did it as a guest at the Raúl Paz concert at the Karl Marx Theater

But let’s hear about what could repair the future of this musical gem … “I do not think I’ll become a singer who decides to sing what’s in. In 2009, his artistic commitments have multiplied, including presentations on stellar programs on Cuban TV and Radio.

From May to June 2009 he toured Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, together with the group Reflexión, presenting himself as a guest figure in the well-known “Son de Cuba Festival” that took place in those countries several years ago, sharing the stage with other Cuban musicians, like David Álvarez.

I would like to go through the experience, once, of the process of creation that, I imagine, would be the one of Bola de Nieve, when I said “how did people reach the soul when I no longer have a voice or when my voice is not a voice? conventional?”. Because for me, his voice was that I had and it seems wonderful, no one could imitate him, nobody could reach the interpretative level of Bola de Nieve, it is so exceptional that there is its value. And that’s what I’d like to be: a singer who always went to that corner that is in the soul of the whole world. I do not want to be a boring singer.
